Today we will celebrate strength, courage, bravery, and risk-taking!

Boys aim for strength. My 8 yo splitting logs at an old-fashioned fair days.

Boys desire to be rescuers. After failing to rescue this kitty themselves, my boys had to enlist the help of their Dad….. mission accomplished!

Boys crave to be fierce. After studying Native Americans, my boys decided to build a tepee in the woods. This is their fierce impression! (I’m not sure the natives carried baseball bats……we may need to re-visit that unit….)

As I behold all of the things that God is doing, my heart yearns to show Him gratitude…..the gift of stand-by-my-side friends, arrivalof soon-to-be-intwined friends, the kindnesses being exchanged between strangers that are not so different after all, the precious words of wisdom that He bestows to those who adore Him…….I bask in the thought of His all-consuming love, longing to bless Him, and I remember this song…….

Who won yesterday?

Yesterday, I offered up Healthy Meals for Less: Great-Tasting Simple Recipes Under $1 a Serving, my favorite cookbook! Did you read about my favorite recipes?

And the winners are…….

We have a small predicament….my four-year-old is convinced that he is getting a cookbook since I asked him to draw the winners today! This is his best, ‘give-me-the-prize’ smile!

While still convinced that he is winning the gift, he goes ahead and draws the winners for me. The first winner is a subscriber…number 23! Congratulations, Heidi! The second winner is from facebook…..number 60! Congratulations, Heather!

In order to stop the crocodile tears, I had to give him my copy of the cookbook! After putting on his chef apron, he sat down to look through the recipes. Later he asked, “Is it really my cookbook?” I answered, “Yes…as long as you let me borrow it!”

Prize for Day #3

Today I am going to share one of my favorite cookbooks! Two people will win a copy of Healthy Meals for Less: Great-Tasting Simple Recipes Under $1 a Serving! I received this book for my birthday a few months ago, alongside the author’s other book, Miserly Moms: Living Well on Less in a Tough Economy. Both books are amazing! Her cookbook figures up the price per serving for each recipe! Each one costs less than $1 per serving. My favorite recipes are:

• Fall-Off-the-Bone Beef- This beef recipe cooks for twenty-four hours in the crock pot. Because it cooks so long, the beef is extremely tender! It makes a delicious broth that is perfect for French Dip Sandwiches. Cost per serving: 84 cents
• Pumpkin Bread (with chocolate chips)- This pumpkin bread is great for potlucks! It is very inexpensive, I always have the ingredients in my kitchen, and everybody loves it! The base recipe doesn’t call for the chocolate chips, but she offers them as an optional add-on at the bottom of the recipe. Of course, I add them! (Chocolate makes everything better.) I bake it in a bundt pan to make it look pretty! Cost per serving: 9 cents
• Flavored Iced Teas- She gives a base recipe for iced tea. Then, she offers several ideas for additional flavors: lemon, orange, stawberry, cranberry, mango, and ginger-pineapple. It’s great for drop-in company! Yummy! Cost per serving: 16 cents
